My work traverses the intersection of healing, art and education. Equal parts psychotherapist, poet/artist and teacher, I have spent more than 30 years investigating and articulating the dynamics between mind, body and expression.
Trained in psychology, dance, landscape design, and writing, I have tied all these pieces into my work in hospitals, schools, private practice, and my former design business. I have taught movement education and body awareness in high school, massage training programs and graduate schools of psychology and education.
I have been awarded grants for poetry and been published in many literary journals and online sites. I also write children’s book reviews.
When my daughter was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, I turned my experiences with chronic illness and the medical world into essays and poetry, creating a window into this experience to aid others.
Currently, I lead a parent support group for families dealing with the effects of chronic illness, specifically Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM). I weave poetry into workshops at national JDM conferences and in presentations to doctors in several fields of medicine.
I am available to:
- give presentations to medical, nursing and social work professionals on
The Effects of Chronic Illness on Families
and
- lead workshops on
Coping Skills for Families with Chronic Illness
